Chance?

Ok, thanks. Many schools publish their “Common Data Set” which shows, in sections C7 to C12, the profile of the most recent entering freshman class. From Reed’s CDS, I would guess that Reed would be a slight reach for your son. E.g., his ACT composite is in the bottom half, English is in the bottom third, but his math is in the top half. His SAT reading is in the bottom quarter. Grades can be hard to compare, but Reed’s average is 3.9 out of 4.0.

But chances at Reed can be difficult to estimate, because Reed is looking for a good “fit” with students, where a strong mutual benefit is important. The application essay is very important, and the interview is considered important.

I see from your other posts that your son is interested in a wide variety of schools. I trust that he’ll find the right place. Maybe it is Reed.

Best of luck in the search!
