<p>We’ve often wondered what it was that got him in. His grades and scores were good not great but he was very active in several creative and musical ventures (like you). He was also extremely into making movies and won several awards at film festivals. If you haven’t tried that, just do it. Make a documentary about something, and enter a local film festival. You never know.</p>
<p>But since the admissions folks don’t look at your movies (you just list them on a portfolio sheet), it may be that the essays and recommendations carry lots of weight. An admissions counselor mentioned that they look for a “cinematic eye” in the essays, so keep that in mind. Our son took that tip to heart. And his recommendations were very strong (we think).</p>
