Chances at Getting In?

You don’t need the “Top Ten program” to get into either of those schools, your stats are more than strong enough.

With your stats, you likely would be offered at least $3 to $5K a year in merit scholarship (the Pegasus Scholarship*
Gold, Bronze, Silver). In addition to other scholarships, such as the Provost scholarship. Do the research and apply as needed.

It’s not that uncommon for students to pick USF or UCF over UF, simply based on the merit scholarships (and honor colleges).

Also think about applying to schools like Vanderbilt, Duke, etc. These schools wouldn’t offer merit scholarships, but they would offer need based grants. Use the net price calculator for each school, to get an idea of how much they may offer. These schools are much more selective, but sometimes offer better need based aid. If you do think about applying to these schools, you may want to re-take your SAT to boast it a bit higher.

Still, these schools (the Vanderbilt’s and Dukes), even with good financial aid, may prove to be too expensive. However, it may be worth submitting an application and finding out…

Good Luck!
