Chances at Stanford? REA or RD?

You’ve probably read this, but I’ll post it anyway:

You’re certainly competitive academically, and that’s about all that anyone can tell you.

At this point, all you can do is work on those essays. Frankly, I think that they make or break applications. The essays that stand out really are those in which a student’s voice is apparent, so discuss something about which you care in a writing style that reflects your own voice.

You seem to be lacking a passion for something. Stanford explicitly says that it likes to admit passionate people, though I don’t think that everyone is passionate. So your best bet is to be yourself. They can usually tell if you’re trying to “manufacture” a fake passion in your essays.

If Stanford is, in fact, your first choice, then you should apply REA.
