birthofthecool: I am not sure of when you attended or your experience at UGA, but your statements do not match the current situation at the University. From the interaction with targeted HS’s, programs such as GA Daze and PSLSAMP, the pre-college programs that are offered, the recent hire of Victor Wilson as Ex. VP for Student Affairs, etc., there are a wealth of options at UGA for African-American students. As for numbers, the Fact Book shows over 2,700 African-American students on campus, which is larger than either Spelman’s or Morehouse’s enrollment. While UGA’s history has not always been strong with respect to African-Americans, today’s UGA is a much different place than in the past.
