It is good that you as a parent are helping your son but be careful not to crowd him, give him some space, after all it will be his first major decision, but, keep looking over his shoulder. Your son should visit and do an overnight if possible…then visit again for a second look.

If he wants to compete in soccer/cross country or track/field you should contact the Coach.

Having both of my kids there I can verify that it is a great school with all kids over-the-top smart, articulate, and gifted in some way or another. My first applied RD and my D went ED. Since we are from the midwest and he was a gifted athlete with an IB diploma don’t let SAT scores run your life or ruin your decision, its a great place.

My D has chosen a major where she takes all of her core classes at Swat. She has gained a lot by taking clases at all three schools, HC, BM and Swat. That option is a great, great hidden benefit that you will not find in many other colleges or U’s. Think about it, 3 great schools for the price of one, the friends, social, the best Profs, all for her choosing. My son and his buddies used to go to BM for the food on a semi-regular once a week jaunt, meal cards are interchangable and it provided a nice change for them.
