<p>@timp: I agree with txex86. I think the SAT could possibly help you more than you think. My son, who has not been a good tester, got a 2070 on the PSAT, but when he took the SAT the following March, got a 2080. He did a retake Oct of his Senior year and scored 2280. He did not take a prep class, just worked with the prep book (and he didn’t just do practice tests). I tell you this because I want you to know it is possible to improve your score more than you might think (his second SAT and ACT scores completely changed the colleges he was considering). I am guessing you skipped the March test because you just didn’t believe you could improve. While I understand there is some expense involved, I urge you to reconsider. If you have a guidance counselor who is knowledgeable and whom you trust, please discuss it further. </p>
<p>You struck a chord with me because my son got a 30 when he took the ACT the first time. He came home saying “I could have done better. I wasn’t prepared.” When he did the re-take, he scored a 34.</p>
