<p>I am not going to pry into your personal details, but am trying to figure out if there are in fact merit ONLY scholarships out there for out-of-state undergrads – the Presidential Achievement, Gates, Terry Foundation, Longhorn Opportunity, etc. are all based on either underrepresentated/minority populations or financial need. Most of the endowed scholarships are limited to TX residents and we are out-of-state.</p>
<p>We were told at VIP Day that if a OOS student is awarded a $1000 merit scholarship they can then apply for an out-of-state waiver, which is offered to a very limited number of students each year by individual colleges.</p>
<p>I hope you are able to attend UT and benefit from such a generous award! My son is still finalizing his college choices but UT is at the top right now.</p>
