Admissions is very idiosyncratic. My niece was accepted ED and her “hook” appears to have been her international study and internships and the fact that she surmounted some significant obstacles. If you would believe many people posting her, she didn’t stand a chance as she has a 3.65 GPA (unweighted) and 1950 SAT composite. Yet she got in ED.
