<p>If you could transfer to UCR or UCSC as a Physics major you should consider yourself fortunate. Although the overall reputation of those schools in the UC system is not good, nationally, both are very highly regarded in Physics and Astronomy. The 2.9 GPA is not going to hurt you nearly as much as the F in a math class. If you can, you should try to retake that course and get the F replaced with a grade of at least a C and preferably a B or an A.</p>
