Chances?

Ok, I’ll bite.

Chances: not good. Your friend is an over-represented gender in an over-represented racial group from an over-represented state with no particularly distinguishing characteristics (sounds harsh, I know, but I’m only going on what you have posted). His SAT scores are in the bottom quartile of those admitted to the most recent class, and third decile class rank applicants were most recently admitted at a rate of 10%, compared to 38% for first decile applicants and 15% for second decile applicants. Lack of financial need should not be a factor, as Hamilton is need-blind in the admissions process. The only possible hook is the aunt alumnae; I can’t speculate on how that might make a difference.

Edited to add: it’s interesting that you and your “friend” both have an aunt who went to Hamilton and played ice hockey. Small world!

Also, as a high school freshman, you have plenty of time to get your grades up and improve your test scores.
