If you consider that 4300 nominations are given out annually and about 1500 receive offers of appointment, that’s a little better than a 35% chance of receiving an appointment. When the admission rate is 14%, I’d rather have the nomination in hand and pray than no nomination since no nomination equals no appointment.</p>
