Changing AP course after pre-read

Is it ok to change from one AP course to another AP (BC Calc to Stat) after getting the green light and roster spot in the pre-read? This is for NESCAC school, we are applying ED1.

“Rigor” wise those are very different. You have to check with the coach (and he will check with admissions) before making that change. IMO, while it’s possible, there is a good chance the ok will not be given.

Agree with all this.

OP, don’t change classes until you have the ok from admissions (via the coach).

No, “we” are not.

Anyway, as others have said, no it’s not OK unless admissions says it’s okay. A change which keeps or increases the rigor is invariably fine. Where the rigor drops, as in your example, admissions may find problematic

Definitely check with the coach and admissions because as others have said these classes are not seen as equal in terms of rigor. It may be fine, but definitely check first.

Not all APs are created equally. The change from AP Calc BC to AP Stat is a notable lowering of course rigor. I’d absolutely contact the college before making this switch.
