Does the bizecon degree count as business background? What exactly puts the BUSINESS in the business economics program? Looking at the curriculum of both the econ and the bizecon its exactly the same but econ majors take 7 UD econ electives and bizecon takes 5 UD econ electives + 4 UD management classes (+2 lower div accting).

[UCLA Department of Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/econ.html) econ curriculum
[UCLA Department of Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/bizecon.html) bizecon curriculum

If you look at the business electives that are available to bizecon majors, they are the exact same ones for the accounting minor. Now the accounting minor, requires a total of 7 UD management classes. This means if a bizecon major, does the bare minimum of 4 UD management classes than the person who has done the accounting minor has actually taken more business classes than just the normal bizecon major.

Now lastly, does economics count as business background? Economics is considered a social science last time I checked. And what else is a social science? Psychology .

But I doubt it matters what your major is. You probably have the same chances to make it to the big four.
