Chapman breaks ground on new Performance Hall--LA Times

<p>"Hoove’s Liquor at Glassell Street and Walnut Avenue will be the only building left standing after the demolition is completed. The owner turned down Chapman’s offers to buy the corner property so the university has designed the center to essentially wrap-around the corner store.</p>

<p>Ron Makhlouf, a co-manager at the store, said he isn’t concerned about the project’s impact on parking along Glassell because 70 percent of his business is customers who walk in from the university or neighborhood. If anything, he thinks the shows at the center might boost his business."</p>
