Charitable Giving: Advice Requested

One of my new favorite charities (4 star rated by Charity navigator) is called Modest Needs. People are screened and you can pick who you want to help and search for people in your state and what they need assistance with. The goal is to keep people afloat by taking care of something that is just about to sink them. An example would be someone whose car needs brakes and they can’t afford to get them fixed and if they can’t drive, they lose their job.

Local food bank, no question. The need this year is greater than ever.

I support the USO and Fisher House. The USO greets returning soldiers at airports as they return home. Frequently they reach the US in the middle of the night, tired and hungry. At large US airports the USO has a lounge where they can get a snack and nod off on a sofa until thier flight leaves in the morning. The USO isn’t all about entertainment.
Fisher house is like McDonald’s House. It’s a place where families of soldiers can remain close to soldiers needing medical treatment.
