Cheney Shoots Fellow Hunter!

Now . . .09 mom: I think we agree on many things.
I don’t understand your comment.

“C’mon, do you think Cheney has ANY influence on foreign policy?”

Are you being sarcastic? Rhetorical? Factual?

That is, I think Cheney has significant–if perhaps misguided–influend on foreign policy. His influence may have lessened this past year–with the appointment of Rice–but clearly his stamp is on many of the decisions of the past five years.

;)
I was being sarcastic…

09mom:

what about smart cowboys?

PM wrote: “Call me weird…but I fail to see the humor in any of this…a man has just be injured for God’s sake!”

Having had dinner at a Japanese Resturant last night the first thing that I thought of was, “God’s sake, that has to be some really good rice wine!” Do you think that is what he made at Cana?

“what about smart cowboys?”
-DMeix

Only if they’re smart enough to support impeachment. On the other hand if that occurred, then Cheney would OFFICIALLY be our President, and that is a very scary scenario.

“God’s sake…” was it served hot or cold? ;)

–George Santayana

Also: Dick Cheney was Secretary of Defense for Desert Storm from 1989-93 under George Bush. He has been around that flagpole before.

For all concerned, we are fortunate that the accident was not fatal - to either party. Hunting accidents are horrible for all concerned. As are drunk driving accidents (See Mass. Senator).

“Never ascribe to malice, that which can be explained by incompetence.” — Napoleon Bonaparte

No one ever suggested that Cheney shot his pal on purpose, but since you brought up the subject, INCOMPETENCE is frequently used these days to describe the current administration!

Enough fun, I promised myself that I would get those rose trees in the ground today!

God’s sake. I’m guessing its cold since that’s the good stuff. You only heat up the blended stuff to enhance the aroma and mask inferior sake.

Can I ask you honestly…what is a 65 year old VP, with a history of advanced Coronary artery disease, several MI’s, a quadruple bypass, an internal defibrillator, and a pile of VP academy nominations waiting to be signed, doing with a gun, galavanting on the plains, shooting down quail with a 78 year old attorney that doesn’t have the common sense to stop hiding in the grass in the line of fire??? What is wrong with this picture???

Pretending to be in combat so he can “relate” to the troops: man against nature, or in this case man against man. Loved your comment about the pile of academy nominations on his desk waiting to be signed!

While Cheney possibly could/should have been more careful and obviously feels terrible for hurting his friend, I am sure that the injured hunting companion probably feels even more stupid for not announcing his movement from the line. I don’t really see anything political about this accident that happened on Mr. Cheney’s time off. I hope that the man gets better soon.

Cheney Apparently Breaks Key Hunting Rule

WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney apparently broke the No. 1 rule of hunting: Be sure of what you’re shooting at. He also violated Texas game law by failing to buy a hunting stamp…

…Cheney stayed “close but cool” while the agents and medical personnel treated Whittington, then took him away via ambulance to the hospital. Later, the hunting group sat down for dinner while Whittington was being treated, receiving updates from a family member at the hospital. Armstrong described Cheney’s demeanor during dinner as “very worried.”

Personally, I wouldn’t have much of an appetite for dinner immediately after I accidentally shot my friend…though I’d probably have some of God’s sake…

“Duck- it’s Dick”…stop making me laugh so hard! I bet GWB is shaking in his boots right now wishing his desk was armor plated…bet he won’t look at old Dick quite the same anymore- watch him plant Cheney up in some remote outpost on the Alaskian Frontier negotiating the fishing season with the Inuets…hope they frisk him first!!! ;)

Can’t wait 'till Leno tonight! It pales only to JM’s 1000th!! :)

“For God’s sake” . . . really choice observation.

How did we Alaskan’s get caught up in this? I have just deleted many rants. Carry on. Just leave Alaska out of it unless you are prepared to have an intelligent conversation.

“when we try to build a road or a bridge it’s pork spending.”
-momof1

Alaskan MOCs are Republicans!

my money is on Hillary!

Your point USNA09mom?

Congress controls the purse strings.

and? What exactly are you saying? Since you took the quote out of context, would it be helpful if I explained?

What I was saying was that I was tired of uninformed or underinformed people making decisions about Alaska. I did not refer to an particular group of people, other than those who inhabit the lower 48. You seem determined to make this a partisan debate. That was not the intent. One of the reasons that I deleted it was that it roamed so far off topic.

I am fully aware of the party affiliations of my MsOC. As an Alaskan I do find it ironic that the Big Dig in Boston was a federally funded project, yet when we request a bridge, it is maligned as “pork spending” and “a bridge to nowhere” since no one lives where the bridge is going to. Maybe because THERE IS NO BRIDGE THERE. Sheesh.

Not everything is a partisan debate and, as future officers in the military, our sons and daughters, mids and cadets, will be precluded from having loud, public political debates which are critical of the president or his/her administration. There is a reason for that.

As a service academy parent I feel more comfortable observing that same restraint only because I envision this site as a welcoming and non-confrontational place for all who come here and I am loathe to create a hostile environment for anyone of any political stripe who may find themselves drawn here.

I do feel there are plenty of opportunities on the regular site for this kind of debate, such as in the cafe or the parent’s forum. That is just my view, and one I have not voiced until you chose to single out my post.

If you would like to discuss Alaska or the Naval Academy, fine. Fire away.

momof1- not making fun of Alaska in any way- honest!!! It’s just that it’s the remotest part of America as the crow flies from Washington DC, well out of harms way, and no quail to be harmed! And enough distance for GWB to be safe from a VP gone wild!

On second thought, I can appreciate you not wanting him there either with all those endangered species! What was I thinking???
