Girls arn’t very attractive:

Sigh, I wish this myth would stop propagating itself. We are no Stanford - no UCLA that is true, but we certainly are not a collection of ogres either.

Boyfriend/Girlfriend relationships not prevalent:

Odd…the majority of all my friends are either in committed relationships or are the type who’d rather…shall we say…prefer quantitiy over quality.

Nearly purely academics:

We have strong academics, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to have fun. See my post in the U Chicago forum at the end of the “A bunch of nerds…” thread for more info.

No school spirit:

Heh. Well we don’t have a Badger nation, that’s for sure. You won’t find many U of Cers going to football games on their spare time (except the players…and the cheerleaders…yes, believe it or not, we actually do have cheerleaders). However, if the self-depricating nature of all of the shirts around campus is any indication, I’d say that there is quite a bit of school pride.

Proud to be a nerd:

Sure. Almost everyone here is a nerd - in their own unique way, mind you. We do not fit the stereotypes of nerdom in most cases.

Not very well known:

That depends. It depends on who you want to be well known to. I’ve found that your average joe often confuses the U of C with UIC (Univ. of Illinois’ circle campus)…which can be frustrating at times. However, the types of people that actually matter - that would actually care about a good education / a good school, DO know about this school.

Oh, and the nuclear reactor was constructed in a student’s dorm room for Scav Hunt one year. Note, it wasn’t actually a nuclear reactor, they just managed to perform the technical process involved in a nuclear reactor. I’d like to see a Princeton student say they did that!

Also, I’d like to apologize in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes I’ve made in this post…I sort of spent the night partying.
