Sorry for asking the basics, but are all Chinese universities funded by the government? Are they free to attend? Otherwise, with the intense competition for seats, I can’t imagine why private universities wouldn’t be a thriving business there.

<p>It’s a collectivist, totalitarian society governed by a rigid oligarchy that fears independence of thought even more than they hate Russia. That’s my theory anyway.</p>
