Choate new student registration packets

but then like how do you physically sign up for the course???
like i want to sign up for arabic (i already take it, plus ill be in latin 3)
and if i can’t, then chinese
as my 6th course
so i can do that
but for the arts i want to do the festival chorus–but where do i sign up for it???

Haven’t you gotten the registration packet? It gives you a sheet where you can write down the courses you want.

yeah–but there is only 5 spots per term, well, and a sixth too, but if you’re taking festival chorus or some other thing that practices outside of the school day but is still needed for your requirement–where do you write it down?

just add it, I guess - that might go where your EC would, maybe, or an approved project. i’m tired now so ask me tomorrow. :wink: I’ll look at the registration packet then.

haha okay
thanks though!

im taking two languages as well, french and chinese. also, as a third former u can only take a 6th course winter OR spring term.

oh and could someone please answer my question on whether i must give the history placement question thing to a teacher if im gonna be a third former and i wont be taking history as an elective?

ive decided to not take french.
now its so much easier to decide what courses to take.

If you place into French 200/250, you will be done with French by the end of your Junior year. To take arabic, you technically have to be at 350 level in language–and this year I know if no freshmen taking it, so I have no idea if they’ll let you–it’s worth a shot though!

Arts does take up a class spot–but if you are in chorus, it takes care of 2 out of the 3 arts credits needed to graduate, so you can take the 3rd senior spring or something. Hope I am answering everyone’s questions, feel free to ask more!

Thanks, Sam!! That’s really helpful. Much less confusing. :slight_smile:
If I take art winter term, that means I get no free periods then, right?

And what would happen if someone with a courseload of six courses took art? Would they have to have an EXTRA period, if their free period is taken up by another language?

On the schedule it shows in the beginning of the book it makes it clear that there are 7 periods (A-G). We only have 5 classes, therefore you would have 2 free periods (one of which you would eat lunch in). During your winter term, let’s say, you take Theater 1 as a sixth class. So you would still have a free period left.

Is that right?

Question: Is it possible to have music lessons AND your art class?

Well, I guess a free period for lunch if that’s what you mean Carolyn. I’m not sure about music classes - ask Sam or Dan.

which one is which? i mean which is sam and which is dan?

and yes your one free period is for lunch! yum-oh!

There’s an H on it too, which makes for eight periods overall but seven in a day. I guess then art would only meet like regular classes four times a week. It says that you have 5 classes which meet 4 times a week. So eight periods = five classes, then you could take two art periods and still have time for lunch. But all classes and both art periods wouldn’t meet once a day.

Sam = crh08
Dan = tug

I just deduced that by logic. You’d have to ask them for the final say! :)

olivia, will you clear your pms

wait you guys–can freshmen take six courses all three trimesters or just the second two…???
cc

As far as I know, anyone can take six courses as often as he/she would like.

just one of the second two.
