Choate vs Groton vs Deerfield

Op’s post:

Accepted: Choate, Deerfield, Hotchkiss
Rejected: Exeter, L’ville, Mercersburg, St. Mark’s
Waitlisted: Andover, Groton, Milton, Taft, SPS, Blair
Likely Attending: Choate

Groton appears to be a WL and currently off the table for future consideration.

Nice post @CavsFan2003 . :slight_smile:

@mommysmalls
I don’t think @Golfgr8 is talking about mean moms at Groton (but I could be wrong and I assume she will PM you) I think it’s referring to something else.

Anyway, I can tell you that all the parents I know IRL are actually lovely. Have not met a single “mean mom” type in my time there. Actually, the parents are really interesting and diverse. Lots of parents at Groton who did not go to college for instance and whose kids will be first gen. And I say “lots” more than you’d expect to find in a school like Groton. Also, very economically diverse, I know some bazillionairs and some whose kids are on full fa + stipend. Everyone seems to get alone well at games and cocktail events.

Actually, the parents are so nice I wish there were more get togethers!

@mommysmalls - not at Groton. The post was about an earlier post. If you read my post earlier I mention I have good friends who are alum and 2 neighbors who are double - alum and parents of 2 kids. I knew former HOS also. Very nice! Also respect HOS greatly .

@one1ofeach and @Golfgr8 Thank you for clarifying! I’ve been trying to go back in threads, so I don’t ask things that have already been answered a 100 times. Sometimes I’m finding a lot of interesting info that seems to allude to a specific school because of related posts that name it. Glad I was wrong on this one!

There is much information @ Deerfield on similar threads so I won’t fully repeat… The OP asked for some comparisons of these 3 different schools;

You can go to the website for Fast Facts & School Profile, Matriculation Data, Courses. Oh… yes…and Alumni Heritage award winners.

Deerfield -
Mid-Size school of @ 650
Countryside setting in historic town
Motto: Be Worthy Of Your Heritage
Best book & movie about school: Death Be Not Proud. You can see the campus in the movie.

From a parent perspective; The school is proud of its traditions and is probably the one of the most conservative of the NE schools… Generally, conforming to dress code of blazers/jackets in Fall & Spring.

Hi @mommysmalls

I just posted a long answer to some of your questions on the Ask About Deerfield or Questions About Deerfield thread!
