Your perspective on Hotchkiss made me so excited for my son. He did not visit or apply to Choate so for us it came down to Hotchkiss vs. Andover.
He picked Hotchkiss because of the “vibe”. And could not be convinced to do a revisit he knew immediately it was Hotchkiss.
He loves the outdoors, rural location. He’s more introverted and felt comfortable on campus with the people he met. His academic focus is humanities, which they seem strong in.
Hotchkiss students seemed more likely to actually show up and cheer for their teams at sporting events, creating a better athletic environment overall.
Small thing but he also likes the option for a single room in a dorm too.
