I just got home from a long day of work and just caught up on all posts.
Yes, my son chose Boston College…
Last night he spoke to coaches from all four schools. His conclusion was that it would be best to choose BC and then if not happy after year one, transfer to one of the Ivies. By doing this he would not have to sit out a year before being eligible to play which is the restriction if you reversed this situation.
I was so proud of my son as he negotiated a great fallback plan. All three Ivy coaches committed to embrace his future transfer if he maintained grades of no less than B’s in every class.
I was pulling for Penn (Wharton) or Harvard, but I guess women simply have more power in this world as my wife pulled for BC. Women rule and men drool…
One fact that I was hestitant to provide was that my wife is part of a long Princeton legacy. Oddly enough, she believes Princeton has changed much over the years and has become too elitist in attitude. I am a lowly Penn State grad and always dreamed he would play for JoePa. But, tragically, that ship has sailed…
Looks like several of you identified my son on recruiting websites. Since my son verbally committed to BC in the summer, the recruiting websites basically stopped updating offers. So, they all have different data and only have the facts listed.
I think all of you hit the nail on the head on several topics, but in the end it had to be a decision left to my son. He picked the school where he could best follow is biggest dream. What is the over/under that this time next year I’ll be posting another announcement regarding his transfer to the Ivies? Boy, I don’t want to even think about that…,
I hope the facts and opinions provided in this thread offers some help and insights for anyone facing similar dilemma in the future.
You all ROCK!!!
GO EAGLES!!!
Thanks again…
