You want advice regarding the nuts and bolts of the college admissions process. I would listen to someone like @Mwfan1921 who does this professionally. She is basing her advice on experience which is invaluable.
There’s a highly regarded essay coach in the Boston area (that I refer students to if he’s affordable for the family), and his advice is to students is to write the Common App essay they want, and then pick the prompt that’s closest to it.
Suggests to me that entire purpose of the Common App prompt is to provide ideas for writing, rather than to answer that specific question.
