<p>It’s not so entirely freakish and indefensible as you might think; I mean if your best friend honestly believes there’s only one way to avoid paying for things we’ve done wrong (and believes that payment is hell, hellish, etc…), and then just leaves you to “discover how you truly feel about subjects on your own,” you’ve got a pretty heartless best friend. Obviously though, when it gets to be “aggresive” as you put it, it’s not doing anybody any good, as it’s only a turn-off.</p>
<p>Not directing this at you specifically, but you might as well cut people some slack - a lot of Christians would probably disagree with saying that religion is all about personal tenets. But ya, it would help if there were more people setting better examples.</p>
