I would seriously look into Seville (Sevilla) Spain! I was there in mid November, plenty of sun, warm weather, an amazingly romantic place! It is so close to Morocco. It is perfect. Now, it will be cooler in December but I imagine still o.k. Plenty to see and do. Wonderful people, music, food, antiquities. It is one of the tops in my list of places to visit.

What are you looking for in Tuscany? Lots of people think they want to check out the small hillside towns, but during the winter these places practically shut down entirely. It is going to be cold, wet, and empty. And good luck finding an open restaurant for lunch. I’ve stayed in one of those stone castles in January. Heating is not their strong point. It is DAMP and you NEVER get warm…NEVER.
You will definately want to stick with larger cities in Tuscany, such as Florence.

I highly recommend Florence for Christmas, it is quite and lovely that time of year. Florence is one of the greatest cities in the world and most people only ever see it in crush of tourists. It does get dark early, but it is a lovely Christmasy in the city kind of dark. Christmas Eve you can do a concert, like a lot of Italians do. I would check with the Teatro Verdi or Teatro del Maggio Musicale. ( I just checked and Teatro Verdi is doing a full Mozart Mass and Teatro del Maggio is doing a ballet suite from Carmen followed by a short opera by Donizetti) Follow this up with a lovely dinner and you have a very Florentine Christmas Eve. One thing, in Florence everything will be closed Christmas morning, but many small restaurants, bars and bakeries open for a while in the afternoon when families come out for their afternoon walk. Other days check out the Central Market at San Lorenzo, or the more authentic market at San Ambrosio, hit the museums (my personal favorites are the Bargello and the Opera del Duomo), just wander the streets and go in and out of every Church you see. One of the joys of Florence is finding it on your own. Florence is a great jumping off point for day trips as well. I would recommend Siena, Pisa, Lucca.
