<p>SIlpat - that is kind of how my basement is now. The “Carpet” in the one area is a giant probably 20x30 area rug that is duct taped down around the edges - lol!</p>

<p>Dry wall on any wall that doesn’t have piping. Paint cinder block walls to look like bricks.</p>

<p>I would be very hesitant to paint steam heating pipes. Perhaps install pipewrap insulation first.</p>

<p>The steam pipes that go up to my second floor are painted to match the wall colors in the two rooms that they run through so I’m assuming its ok to paint the ones down in the basement. Actually they might even be painted already now that i think about it. I think they are white.</p>
