@greatfallsmom I’m pretty sure the schools just get the highest scorers list with no indication of actual scores or specification of SF status. When we were planning a late August visit to a state school with a very good NMF package for D13, their National Scholars office asked us her score so they could determine how likely it was that she would make NMF for our state.

Some might not even have the official 50,000, as we have mailings with similar wording dated before the cut was established. Maybe they can request all scores above 180, or 200, or whatever.

called NMC today… they wouldn’t give me any info, said I had to call the principal. I emailed the GC, not sure if he will tell me but thought I would try.

Going on 3 weeks since the principal was supposed to call in all the kids named in the letter. Waiting………still waiting,………

If a kid has an NMSF-level PSAT score, has already taken the SAT and achieved a confirming score, and is taking an SAT subject exam this spring (so will get 4 free score reports) – then is it OK to send the confirming SAT to College Board (code 0085) now using a free score report?? Or is it better to wait until officially notified about NMSF in the fall??

Good question @mihcal1. My understanding is that it’s fine to send now. I sent my son’s scores sight unseen this past May for the freebie, and they were more than enough (whew!) I may call in the near future just to make sure they have them, though electronically they should be there. Seems a bit bold, but oh well, .

I’m confused about the free score reports. I thought those had to be sent within a small window of time after taking the SAT I. Is that not correct?

I sent Ds score to the NM Corp already too. I did wait to see if the scores we’re confirming (no problem for her, whew) but we had already used the free scores to send to schools she is applying to. And @suzy100 you had a window of one week after the test to use the free score reports.

@mihcal1 – we used the free score report (sight unseen) to send the SAT scores for NMSC (even though we don’t yet know if we need to). I figure why pay for it later when you can send them now.

We are using the free score report from the June Subject Tests to send all scores to NMSC. Like the others have said…might as well use the free one if all you need is a confirming score.

OK my score is right there at my state’s usual NMSF. I took the SAT the month after the PSAT and I got 2280. Since I’m not sure if I’ll make it to the semi finalist, should I just wait? I appreciate any suggestions.

If you are taking any June tests, you will get 4 free score reports. If you are not going to use all of them for the schools to which you will be applying, you could go ahead and send one to NMSC…and then keep your fingers crossed that your score will require them to look at it! Good luck!

I took the SAT last December.

If you aren’t taking any June subject tests, you might as well wait to see if you make NMSF in the fall. No need to spend the money for a score report if you aren’t going to need it…but I hope you will need it!

Ok thanks!

Good luck to you!

I took an SAT subject test in May and then will take the SAT 1 in June. I have already sent my free subject test scores from May to 4 schools.

If I choose schools A, B C and D as my recipients my subject test score and then schools E F G and College Board for my SAT score, will schools E F G also get my May subject test?

You can choose which scores to send to each. Just make sure you follow each school’s rules regarding reporting scores.

Another 2015 ‘bubble’ parent here - thought you might find this interesting. For our current 2014 seniors, we had 39 Finalists and they announced 6 of them got the $2500 award. I have no further information on what set those 6 apart. My DD took the June SAT ‘just in case’ and had her score sent free directly to NMSC, but nowhere else because she has a good ACT. She ended up with a good enough SAT for NM, but the ACT is still higher for her apps. We’re going to do her college list this summer based on not getting it, but probably having 1 or 2 schools in mind in case she does. She is 1 point under this year’s cutoff, so hoping the lower commended cutoff is good news for everyone. No matter where they draw the line, a lot of people will miss it by 1!

This is off topic, but @jbourne you said your daughter didn’t send her SAT score because of her ACT score. Is it considered overkill to send both scores if they are comparable? Both my ACT and SAT scores are good, does it really matter which one I send?
