Class of 2015 Scholarships

GPA: 4.3
ACT: 30
accepted EA, but only $8000/year.
I really want to go and this is my first choice, but I guess I just didn’t qualify for the Presidential. :(

has anybody been invited to go down in late february? or been notified about academic scholarships yet?

^that. also did anyone who got in RD get academic scholarship notification yet??

getting worried over here.

I got in RD but haven’t heard anything about scholarships yet. I got my acceptance letter with an Honours at Entrance certificate, but nothing on scholarships. Does anyone know if that means I’m just not going to get any? Or does a different department send off that sort of thing?

My stats are SAT 2220, SAT II in Maths I (720) and Literature (740) and I have no idea what my GPA is because I wasn’t educated in the American system. I did the IB Diploma and got 42 points though. I have quite a few extracurriculars (thanks to the IB programme and to the fact that I took a gap year). Does it sound like I have a chance? :S I really want to go to America so badly to study, but if I don’t get a scholarship I won’t be able to :(

You will definetly get some sort of scholarship. My scholarship letter came about a week or 2 after my acceptance letter and I had significantly lower stats than you have. Don’t worry, it’ll come soon enough, and I’m sure it will be a large amount!
Good Luck!

^What were your stats and how much did you receive?

I’m still worried I might not get anything b/c its already been more than a week since my acceptance. Also the fact that i didnt get that Honors at Entrance is scaring me. lol I’ve checked the mail everyday since I got in. My stats should be above average (2250sat/710bio/780mathII and 100.5 weighted gpa) iirc

Also, for those of you who got Honors at Entrance did you fill out the honors program application when you applied? I didn’t see it at the time and am doing it now. I figured that might be why I didn’t get it the honors at entrance.

hi! i got a full-ride to my top school! i feel extremely blessed.
also –> a $10k annual scholarship from one of my safeties (the tuition is ~$11-12k), and a $17k scholarship from another safety.

GPA: 3.7
SATs: 1300/1600
extra-curriculars: varsity lacrosse, church band - pianist & lead vocals, spanish honor society, co-president of church youth group, features editor in school newspaper, choreographer, etc. i also lovelove doing community service, so ive done a lot in that area too.

Snorlax:

My stats are:
GPA UW 3.65, W 3.71
SAT I: 1860
SAT II: US History 680, Literature 660

AP Exams:
US History 3
Art History 3
Chemistry 5
Psychology 4

I only got 6k in scholarship.

Hi Snorlax, no I didn’t apply for the Honours programme. I just got sent the letter telling me I got Honours at Entrance. You do have great stats though, so that’s surprising you didn’t get it. How are your extracurriculars?

my ecs were nothing spectacular but decent (at least i thought). track team, philosophy club, hospital volunteering, soup kitchen volunteering, honor society, tutor, working (taco bell), national merit commended, ap scholar w/ honors, etc.

i guess i didn’t really have too many lead positions which could have been detrimental. will be disappointed if i dont get any merit/honors program. at this point i’ll just wait.

also, mahnamesk8, how much did you get from LMU? did you apply RD and hear back about scholarships recently?

one more thing, if anyone hears about the presidential preview weekend let everyone know! isn’t it supposed to be in late Feb so it would make sense that the invitations would be sent soon.

do they tell you if you got a scholarship with your acceptance letter?

@jess: Nope, actually I called up LMU a few days ago and I was told that most people won’t be notified of scholarships until after April 1st, which is strange because it seems like some people here have already received them.

@flippy: thank you! [:

Is it possible that most of the previous posters applied EA?

I wish it were April 1st already, if that’s the case. I got my acceptance letter a month ago, and I can’t wait to hear if it’ll be financially feasible for me to attend.

I hope I found out soon! Cost is such a big factor right now.

Did anyone else get an e-mail from the LMU Alumni Association about applying for the Kilp and McKay Alumni Legacy Scholarships? I did a few days ago, but I’m not sure if I’m eligible. The summary on the top of the form says that financial need is part of the consideration in these scholarships and implies that applicants must have filled out the FAFSA. I’m not sure if that’s what it means, but that’s what it sounds like. I didn’t fill out the FAFSA because my parents don’t think I would get anything anyway. Should I still apply for these scholarships?

@CharlesCo: actually you’re probably right. I didn’t apply EA…so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I dont’ know if this has been talked about but I got my acceptance letter today but there is no word about any scholarships or financial aid. Whats going on? Other colleges that accepted me gave me scholarships immediately. I am also an international student. Anyone know whats going on?!

Intemister, I believe RD applicants find out their scholarship information after April 1st. I called up the Office of Admissions and that’s what they told me!

300th post!
