I received my admission decision on February 28th. TAMU offered me PSA which I’m very thankful for because I was expecting straight rejection. My older siblings have attended TAMU and loved it so I’m excited to carry on the family tradition! For those curious, I sent in my TAMU College Station application on August 25th 2013. I was in first quarter of my class - 354/1429 which rounds to about 25%, yes my school is enormous and extremely competitive. My GPA was about a 3.8. I’ve been enrolled in IB, AP and Pre-AP classes throughout my high school career along with a National Honor Society. I also have about a hundred hours worth of community service and mentor special needs children at school.

If I stick with PSA and maintain a GPA of a 3.0 at one of the schools connected with Texas A&M, I will be able to transfer my sophomore year to the College Station campus. I have also considered doing straight Blinn and then trying to transfer, but I’m not sure if I want to take the risk because I wouldn’t be 100% guaranteed full admission. The positive part of attending Blinn for a year or two would be that I would already be emerging myself in Aggieland. My twin sister was offered Blinn TEAM so if I did Blinn I would be able to live with her in an apartment in College Station. There are plenty of pros and cons for both pathways, my goal is to be attending TAMU one way or another. Does anyone have opinions or suggestions? What do y’all think of PSA? I plan on majoring in interdisciplinary studies and pursing my goal of becoming a Special Ed. teacher.

Thanks & Gig 'em!

@Breanna5 I got PSA as well and I’m going to do it. I recommend the Corpus Christi campus because from what I’ve heard, everyone loves it! I wanna be an aggie, it’s only one year, and plus guaranteed admission. I rather not take the chance of not getting in again. I say jump on it. I don’t think you’ll regret it. Just don’t choose Tarleton. Someone warned me of that system school.

@Breanna5 I would recommend that you speak with an academic advisor for the major you are looking at. They would be able to give you the insight you need.

@kribri18 I also have heard some good things about the Corpus Christi campus, it is a pretty far drive for me though so I’ve tried to look at others as well. You’re right, it definitely would be the most “comfortable” step for me to take because I won’t have to stress about not getting accepted again - as long as I don’t screw up my freshman year. Thanks for your suggestion! Hmmm, I actually have thought about Tarleton (also Commerce), could you please explain to me your thoughts on Tarleton?

@momma2014 I am going to call an academic adviser sometime this week, thanks!

@Breanna5 Someone on here told me that their friend goes to Tarleton and is miserable. She said they only gave her 8 hours of transferable credit and we need 24 to get to college station. It’s because they have a lot of pre credit courses that are required with the PSA. So if you went there you’d be there longer than a year.

@kribri18 Oh okay, thank you so much for informing me. I have talked with an admission counselor and he informed me of another path I could take called PTA which would earn me guaranteed admission after one year at straight Blinn. Something I am definitely considering, the closer to A&M College Station, the better!

@Breanna5 No problem, I’m glad to help. :)

I had emailed Jon and he told me I got PSA! I think it is strange that they haven’t updated our AIS. I just now checked on my AIS though and my request to change a major disappeared! So maybe they’ll inform me of my PSA offer today. Unfortunately I will have to turn it down because I leased an apartment in college station with a binding lease (it was too good of an offer to turn down with no down payment) so I will be applying to Blinn!

@Aggiehopeful2018, wooh… Good luck! I hope you’re able to transfer to the main campus later :)

Hey
I just got my decision …I didn’t get in
My credentials will be in one of these pages…I’ve been following this thread from the start…so the pages in the beginning.

1290 SAT and 1st qtr rank…
I guess I wasn’t good enough…

on my way to purdue/penn state!

have a great life ! best of luck ppl! :)

Does anyone know when will the Financial Aid for international students be released? :frowning: I have to know how much they offer me to fill the questionnaire and the certificate of finance to receive my I-20, which helps me to get my F1 Visa.

What major should I take freshman year to potentially transfer into engineering at the start of my sophomore year?

@JD1327 be undecided…it doesn’t really matter. Not as a freshman anyway.

@JD1327 Either declared or undeclared: math major would be a good choice for a pre engineer student.
