The whole PACE thing… With Amy Rogers making the decisions… That means they are prob basing there decisions on prescreens… And that just doesn’t seem right… I mean, why have kids fly to audition in person if the decision ultimately lies on your prescreen? Which are farely new to the game, and some of us (uhm, me!) didn’t take so seriously, we were more concerned with hitting send, so we could move on and start planning and polishing up our material for the real audition. These darn prescreens have been biting us in the arse this whole process…this is the third school that is re-viewing them for decisions and my stomach just hurts…Another woulda, coulda, shoulda…
@dramamama123 – we are in the same boat. We know one girl who got a no email last week – she auditioned at Chicago Unifieds. We heard on this board of one other girl who got a no email this week from the audition on 2/7. We know of one phone call yesterday to MTRaleighMom’s D with a yes. I am holding on to the hope that if we haven’t heard a no, our kids are still in the pool – that is purely speculation. I know from reading last year’s thread it took over a week to make all of the phone calls. It appears from that thread that wait lists also receive a call. Does anyone else have any other information? Any other calls? I do know Ball State Bill is in NYC for the Senior Showcase/Cabaret so I imagine he is calling when he has free time. We are also on pins and needles here!
Whoa Pookie!
Wayne and Bob Cline were very front and center at the auditions at Pace. No way they are going to make final decisions based on prescreens. Those kids were in the dance room for an hour and a half - they will not throw that away, nor any other part of the process! If you amble over to the Pace page, you will see Wayne’s direct involvment with the CC forum there. Amy is historically known for making the calls, but if she does so this year, it will be based on a lot of tenured feedback. I prescribe a maple bacon Do-Rite to make things all happy happy.
There were 2 BSU email no’s yesterday that came at the same time. (My D and her friend who both auditioned on 2/7 … I know of one other girl that auditioned on that day. I will report back when I hear if she’s heard anything!)
I would speculate that NOT hearing anything means you’re still in play!
Fingers crossed for both of your kids!!!
@divamamacita my daughter received an acceptance call last night around 9pm from Ball State! Ball State Bill spoke with her for approximately 10 minutes, so if all calls last that long I would think that it takes several evenings to go through the list. Also, regarding Rider…my daughter’s status is still “under review”. She has her final audition this weekend, so I decided not to inquire about this “in limbo” status until next week.
I feel like I’m trying to read tea leaves. No call, not a good sign, but no email with a “redirection”, so a good sign, no snail mail, no idea what that means, obsessively checking portals, probably not a good sign, pouring another glass of wine while reminding D to keep checking for missed calls, not a good sign according to my family…sigh, this is such a long month.
@mtflmomof1 - what about checking online call logs of their cell phone…because teens don’t actually answer phone calls typically
I wish I could give you all a huge cyber hug….this time sucks, there is no way around it. I was right there with you all last year at this time. Nothing makes it any better. Believe me, in one month you will be out of this misery. <3
Isn’t this about the time everyone looks around at each other and breaks out into “Leaving On A Jet Plane” or, in this case, “99 Bottles of Beer.”
@Christyflower we are still “under review” on the Rider Portal. I know of someone who called yesterday and they were told they had more applicants than anticipated and it is going to take up to 2 weeks to process everyone’s decision. I’ve stopped obsessively checking!
@MTRaleighmom - thank you! I’ll try and just check once a day now! LOL! My stomach turns every time I take a look , so I need to cut back!
I’m nervous for all of you - seems like yesterday we were there & it was 2 years ago! So nerve-wracking. Those of us “on the other side” SO get what you’re going through. Hugs to all of you. And donuts. And wine. Lots of wine.
Saw two MT acceptances and one rejection for Point Park on Twitter tonight. Don’t know how they were notified.
@FionaDad what is this year’s twitter account they are using?
The rejection was someone I follow. Then searched “point park” and came across two acceptance tweets.
ok cool… last year the kids used @BFAMTAcceptances and @BFAMTRejected to post their acceptances and rejects so that others would know which groups were going out. I am not seeing any movement on those accounts this year so I guess the kids aren’t using them.
In answer to post #2432 about his daughter getting an acceptance letter that hinted at requiring an answer as soon as possible, before May 1. Please be very careful about being cavalier in accepting the advice given that the MT program must hold a place for you until May 1. As posted a few posts after the initial one, this is indeed an issue every year. The May 1 acceptance date seems to be regarded by some schools as referring to holding a general place in the school’s academic program for the student, not necessarily a place in the MT program. Every year I have seen posts where schools have urged earlier reply dates. Some may just be trying to speed up the process, but others will NOT hold a place in the MT program unless a deposit has been made. If you get one of these notifications urging early acceptance, please call the program directly and get the ‘real skinny’ as to what is happening. I still remember a thread from 2012 where students received these notices, waited until close to May 1, turned down other offers and upon contacting the college that had urged early acceptance, found that there was no longer a place for them. Heartbreaking! See below: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/point-park-university-mt/1312918-waitlist-process-p1.html
@pookiesunshine Pace and most of the school go probably back to prescreens when they choose their students. I would think Amy makes the decisions with her team. CCM taped the auditions for that reason, I know that the head of MT was not at NY Unifieds, so they made the decisions from tape and input from faculty, I assume this goes for most schools
@Songwevr, I don’t know if you are talking about Montclair or not, but 2 years ago when my daughter was accepted there, her acceptance letter asked for a decision well before May 1(I forget the date). We just told them that we couldn’t possibly make the decision by then because we still had to hear from all the schools, and had set aside my daughter’s spring break (a week toward the end of April) to make final school visits. They were fine with that and did not pressure us, and in fact we did not let them know she was going there until May 1. I know they LIKE to know sooner because they make a huge effort to have a class of 20 --10 boys and 10 girls – and therefore don’t over-accept, and try very hard to keep a gender balance. It’s a challenge as you can imagine, and of course the kids on the WL want to know, too. But regardless of what school it is, contact the head of the program (not admissions) and explain your situation.
@my97MTbaby videoing an audition and using that for reference seems like a great and fare idea… It’s the use of the prescreen that bums me out… Again, ours jus wasn’t the best representation of My D, it passed her through but we don’t feel it’s enough to land her a spot, that’s what her audition was for… Live and learn.
