Northwestern decisions are up

Suppose so, JMU letter says they accepted 4360 out of 22,200 applicants. 'bout 20%.

My S just got wait listed at Northwestern!! He’s bummed, but I think it is a big deal!!

What does he know? He’s just a kid.

fingers crossed for all of you waiting!!!

I think it is too! Congrats! That school is a very tough admit. (But sometimes these things are blessings in disguise).

@tmygirlā€Œ Remind him that it is the ā€œHarvard of the Midwestā€!! Fantastic!!!

@pghmusician congratulations! My D can’t remember her answers to the JMU security questions and is now locked out of the site, so we wait for snail mail. Did also get the yes from American though, so feeling pretty good.

My postal haul for the day consisted of a financial aid verification letter from a school we haven’t heard from, a reminder to pay our housing deposit for a school that said ā€˜no’ artistically and a truly incredible scholarship offer (academic) from another school that said ā€˜no’ artistically. Oh, and a postcard from the vet reminding me to bring the dog in. Please stop the madness.

@mtflmomof1 Oh no! poor kid. In all fairness JMU’s portal has more security protocols than the pentagon.

Re: JMU–and this is based on two years ago, so it’s a grain-of-salt situation, but my son got an email the evening after academic decisions were announced saying he was accepted into the acting program. The letter came in the mail early the following week (we live about an hour away from JMU). So you shouldn’t have to wait too long for the follow-up.

Re JMU – Letters and/ or emails will be sent to academically admitted students who auditioned for the program within the next 7 days, by April 1.

Just double checking, @KatMT–if students auditioned for acting (not MT) and were admitted academically, thru still won’t know yet whether they got into the acting program, right? Sorry to nitpick, just want to know whether to expect news from a h.s. senior that I teach!

Hello! All decisions for Musical Theatre, Dance, and Theatre are sent out over the same period of time. So students who auditioned, interviewed for Theatre will hear within the same 7-ish day time frame… by April 1.

Haven’t been on in a few days. Have to say how happy I am for all those with good news and hopeful for those still waiting. I also will confess that I just read the thread posted in this discussion. I literally was shaking my head as I read through it. Just have to go on record as saying We really never witnessed helicopter parents throughout this process. Supportive definitely but it seemed as if at least 95-percent knew the children were auditioning, quite frankly, most of the parents we saw were more interested in the choice of do you want ā€œred or white?ā€

So the horrible audition story I posted a few days ago apparently turned out pretty well! I got a callback!

Yay, @MTer1997, good for you! The callback will be a breeze compared to your first audition! BAL!!!

I hope so! I’ll make sure to eat before so I don’t do anymore floor work.

Hi all! This is my first post to cc and I wish I Iwould have found this site years ago!! I think it’s so wonderful the way you support each other. My D has auditioned at only 4 schools ( which I thought was a lot, until I started talking to other parents at auditions and reading this site) Webster, OCU, Texas State and Coastal Carolina. While she made on campus call backs for both Texas State and Coastal, she was not accepted into the BFA MT programs at either. We are still waiting to hear from OCU and Webster. I know my D is so stressed and worried she will be rejected by her 2 remaining schools. I guess we were completly unprepared for this crazy MT audition process. I fear we may have missed vital lessons the past years and she will be left with a gap year only to audition again next year.

It’s so nice to share this with someone, I have NOONE around me who has any experiance with the MT world. ( I didn’t even know there was a thing called ā€œa college coachā€ lol) My friends all think we are crazy to allow our D to major in MT, but as you all know, if it’s in their blood you can’t hold them back!
