Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

Thanks :slight_smile:

I wasn’t really on my own! I did a lot of the research on my own, but my mom did pay and drive, haha. Try @CanadianMTgirl maybe?

Posted twice

I did do all the work myself (minus paying for/booking travel and the driving, which my father did), but I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m not the poster you’re thinking of, because I didn’t go through the process this year.

@bisou - I think you might be thinking of @tylerjohn but he hasn’t posted here for quite a while. He’s a friend of my D’s - and flew in by himself and stayed with her for his audition at her school.

YUP! That’s him! ^^

@bisou tylerjohn is a friend of my D’s also and is local to here. Would you like him to contact you? I can arrange that…

Does anyone know @attheballet? I’d love to know where she ended up.

Hey @Calliene! Thanks for thinking of me. I’m planning on posting a background post soon!

I was looking for someone to connect with the girl who is asking questions about overdone songs…

I miss you guys – gearing up for the end of senior year! What a wild ride! Enjoy these last moments with your kids!

@Divamamacita … ditto!

In case anyone missed it in the ā€œToo late for summer programs?ā€ thread-- I posted some info about the Torggler Summer Vocal Institute. They’re still taking applications thru June 5th. Gary Kline from Carnegie Mellon and several instructors from Indiana U will be there. (…good chance for those HS juniors to be seen …)

Point Park’s loss is Tulane University’s gain as the incredibly taletented, dedicated and fun, Michael McKelvey leaves Pittsburgh for NOLA…musical theatre and voice students there are so very lucky!

WOW!!

Lots of incredible profs still there @GSOMTMom, looking forward to seeing who replaces him!

Seems like there’s been a real shuffling among heads of MT programs lately. Viterbo gained the incredible Matthew Scott Campbell last year as our new head of MT, and Shane Rhoades steps permanently into the head of dance position at Viterbo this fall following a few years as an artist-in-residence, and I know we’re so excited to keep him on. It’s so exciting to see these programs evolve as more and more talented kids step into the audition rooms every year–more great options for everyone!

And Luis Perez is leaving Roosevelt-CCPA for the Manhattan College of Music. Sorry @GSOMTMom I said all those nice things about Michael McKelvey and the next day saw on facebook that he is moving to Tulane! Just goes to show, you never should pick a program because of a particular professor!

Well we’ve been saying for a while now that Tulane looks like a really good up-and-coming MT program. Getting what sounds like a really great professor only supports that theory. :wink:
