Class of 2021 Acceptance Rate

I understand Michigan is done expanding. In which case, the admit rate will drop going forward. However, Michigan will likely level off at 20%…or 15% at the lowest. Let us not forget that regardless of how many OOS and international students apply, Michigan’s in-state applicant pool cannot increase. It has remained constant at 10,000 for the last 30 years. Michigan has reduced in-state enrollment from 65% to 55% in that period, but will probably not drop much lower than that. As such, the in-state applicant pool will remain around 50-55%, regardless. The OOS/international applicant acceptance rate is already around 20% and will likely drop this year to 16%-18% this year. Naturally, those are just rough estimates. Michigan does not publish exact figures when it comes to in-state and OOS acceptance rates. However, the overall admit rate will likely drop a little going forward and will likely level off either at 20% or 15% in the next 4-5 years.
