Class of 2021 NM college selection chatter

@pickleberry7 , yes the FL Legislature theoretically could drop the Benacquisto program from funding or curtail it each year, but that does not seem likely absent a severe downturn in Florida’s economy. FL is dedicated to raising the stature of its public universities, and Benacquisto is part of that program. Still, you need to consider the risk, however slight. FSU, UCF and USF all have large scholarship programs of their own that would apply to NMFs if the state program were defunded. UF does not but even there it is just inconceivable to me that the Legislature and/or UF would not “grandfather” in existing Benacquisto students if there were any substantial changes to the Benacquisto scholarship.

Thank you for starting this thread.

SI 225 in GA and ACT 36. Completely new to this discussion and the NM process. So, how do we select the colleges to put in the application? What if we are undecided and don’t have our top college?

Any insight would be helpful.

@pickleberry7 I also think the chances of Benacquisto not being funded in the future is slim, but UCF does guarantee to fully fund the scholarship if that does happen. I don’t think UF and FSU will make the same guarantee.

@ppuggle FSU makes that guarantee as well.

I have a 222 selection index in PA, so reasonably sure I should be able to get NMF. I was wondering what the COA in the Benacquisto scholarship includes. Is it just tuition, or does it include other expenses like housing and books?

@AnoopS , Benacquisto includes tuition, on campus room and board, costs/fees, books, supplies, travel and misc expenses. It is a true full ride.
