Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

@evitasmom It’s such a stressful process, and this forum has been my therapy. No one else can truly understand, although my girlfriends who had non-MT applications to deal with alongside everything we were doing this fall did take me out for drinks when our last application and pre-screen was sent. :slight_smile:
Sending you hugs and hope that everything will work out and you will get some good news this week.
These auditions are so tough…2 minutes to wow and make a connection…and you never know what they might be looking for in a potential student. My D was so nervous. Her voice cracked in one of her first auditions…she was SO nervous…and unfortunately that was it for that school. She didn’t get into the first few places she auditioned, and had much more success in the later ones as she got the hang of it and just started to feel more comfortable with the process. At her Pace audition the dance instructor literally told her to stop trying to be perfect and just relax and dance :-o
It is heartbreaking when they receive rejections. Hang in there!

@KTVoice Thanks! So how many MT students do they take? My D is really interested…looks like a great program that is flying under the radar!

For those of you going through this the second time, and maybe this needs to be a new thread, I would love to know why your child left their BFA program. My son has a couple of choices and it is so hard to decide what the right choice is and where he will thrive.

@stagedoormama so have they completed all the calls all on Sunday or do they take all week? Also do they call WL and accepted or just accepted?

@efikids -Can’t say if they completed all MT calls yesterday, but would probably be finishing today as I think they called about half yesterday (though they could have called all and I just didn’t hear about it- I hear a lot, but not everything :wink: ). I don’t believe they would drag it out. They are usually pretty quick with their calls. It is my understanding that as of yesterday they hadn’t started calling Acting. I “think” that those not called will find out their status (priority waitlist/rejection) via the portal along with everyone else at the same time on the same date.

If you get wait listed, can you ask what number you are on the wait list?

Scary looking thin envelope from BW today. S is on WL…

@momsully11 I agree that it would be very helpful to learn about why kids are leaving BFA programs!

@JerseyParents - Well I suppose you can always ask with any program, but no clue if they would actually tell you. Some schools are a little more forthcoming with that info and some aren’t.

@stagedoormama Does CMU ask kids not to post acceptances anywhere until they have finished their calls? I find it interesting that no one has posted acceptances here yet.

@MomofMTBoy Congrats! WL at BW is awesome! There are quite a few boys who have been accepted there but also a bunch of other big name programs- here is to hoping they choose to attend elsewhere! :slight_smile:

Is it true to say that if you’ve heard nothing from Pace at this point, then a rejection letter is on its way?

@CATenorMom - That I don’t know but it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Some kids like to hold that one close to the vest. Also, there are kids that don’t like to post their acceptances on social media/sites like this. At least not until they make their final decision, but some never put it out there. I can think of several I know who got into tippy top programs who never put it onto social media at all.

@MomofMTBoy My D’s thin BW letter came today and it was the same as her email rejection. I think a lot of places that notify by email follow up with a letter. It’s likely not new info.

Finally heard from Webster and it’s a no. At least now I don’t have to worry about her driving in the St. Louis traffic! Or me either! Yeek!

@momtojoss How did you hear?

I’m sorry @momtojoss. We are still waiting to hear from Webster…

@missnypizza MO State accepts 15- 20 each year I believe… that is second or third hand… so don’t quote me!

And usually half boys/girls. I also heard they take a lot of transfers in. Both from MSU and from other schools… so that might impact those numbers. My daughter was particularly impressed with 4 musicals a year plus Tent Theatre.

@hmwahlb got snail mail today.

@momtojoss, we only got more snail mail from Pace, Rider, and Montclair, all of which my D was rejected from. We just keep receiving welcome and admitted student mail. :frowning: I wish they would stop rubbing salt in the wound. I guess we will wait a little longer to hear from Webster.
