Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

@owensfolks and @Mardeen thanks we are flying into Greensboro seemed closer we are coming from the New England area and have never been to NC before. My D is auditioning on the 17th for MT break a leg to your daughter.

@lincoln56 we stayed at the Drury Inn and Suites in Burlington and it was right off 40 and 7 mins from Elon with very easy drive. Starbucks, Target, TJMaxx, Texas Roadhouse, several restaurants nearby. Also Tanger Outlets 10 mins from there in Mebane if you have time.

We will be there 2/17 as well! D said they were told they’ll be released all together at 10:30 pm?!? That’s gonna be interesting, as she has Western Carolina, 3.5 hours away, on 2/18. I guess there must be a ton of kids auditioning at Elon that day. Break a leg to all!

The Drury Inn and Suites in Burlington is super new too. I think it opened over the summer. Looks nice and it’s virtually a straight shot to Elon’s campus.

That Tanger outlet is pretty disappointing for this super outlet shopper. It’s one of the smaller ones. There’s so much shopping right near the hotel though. Alamance Crossing is one of my fave outdoor nearby malls. So if anything is forgotten, it’s very easy to pick it up there.

We had friends who auditioned at Elon and they said it was the longest audition day out of all their auditions. So long in fact, that they ended up disliking the school due to what they perceived as disorganization and wasting the students time. So just be aware- it will be LONG.

Got an email from Ball State confirming audition time and it says bring all styles of dance shoes? Does that include tap? I thought they just did a group jazz thing.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Burlington, easy drive up to campus. That audition day is LONG…

Head to FSU for BFA acting tomorrow at 12. Anyone else headed there? or anyone familiar with the process. Says its callbacks so at least we will know if that one is out tomorrow. Break a leg to all auditioning anywhere this weekend.

@kaf011 my D auditioned for FSU in NY on Sunday and really enjoyed her audition. She said the auditor was so nice and “cute” (i.e. grandpa cute I think LOL). She came out of there pretty happy. He said to her “I hope to see you again” so I’m hoping that’s a good sign! (FYI, straight acting, not MT)

@momtojoss if you’re a tapper then bring your tap shoes. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t worry about it. Only one audition asked my daughter to tap. Because she’s a tapper she always had her shoes.

I have noticed that’s there’s not much information of USC’s acting program on CC. Anyone out there know anything about them? We visited the campus and had an information session with the director a year and a half ago. But I don’t think I’ve seen much info on the audition and selection process. (also posted in Theater/Drama majors forum).

@momtojoss Same as @Ducky312 - my S is a tapper and always carried his tap shoes with him. During his audition year (2014 season), he tapped at 2 auditions (Pace - any tappers were invited to do an additional tap call) and maybe Emerson? I can’t recall the second school but neither had a tap number as part of the general dance call.

@marg928 my D friend just got accepted to USC today but needs to audition still.

Thanks everyone I will be staying where there is shopping with a long audition day ahead looks like I will be shopping! I was thinkging of ubering but looks like I will need a car to get to Elon and around the area. Hoping for warmer weather there coming from New England!
For anyone auditioning for Pace this weekend I used a AP called SpotHero and found cheap parking right next to the college.

I forgot to say- When I said late/long day for Elon auditions, the people I know didn’t get released till midnight! Should have mentioned that in my other post.

FYI for all Elon 2/17 the Drury Inn has a special rate of only 75 buck a night!

@lincoln56 so that probably means she was accepted to her second choice major, right? I believe all the students who were accepted today are finalists for scholarships as well.

Her Mom said that she just got her academic acceptance and she got 1/4 off tuition.
She still needs to audition for her BFA in MT.

@lincoln56 she was most likely a National Merit Finalist then…they get 1/4 tuition scholarship.

Anyone at CCM last weekend? Any news?
