One other point about lists is that they are relative to where you are and where you want to go. There are many very strong regional markets across the US where productions are of the highest quality and you will see many performers with regional educational credits. This is where many of our kids will start out and where they may thrive.
My reaction when I saw that list… “Uh Oh” Nothing gets a us parents going like a list!

@2lights You won’t find many/if any, agreeing with your above statements on this board. I work in “the biz” and as bisouu said, I believe you are misinformed. I will leave it at that.
@2light - your post #3453 shows not only a sad lack of information, but a desire to be rudely dismissive of a particular school. And I swear I am not saying that b/c it this school my kid goes to - which she picked over 3 others on YOUR list ( the key is it was best on HER list). You have the right to your opinion, as everyone does. You have shared that opinion, but maybe it’s time to stop beating the horse. (At least that’s MY opinion.)
The class of 2018 has been a remarkably kind and supportive group - I would hate to go back to some of the negatively that has been happened in past years.

@hmichmom At the parent meeting before November auditions the freshman students answered questions and one of the boys was waitlisted and didn’t come off til April 30 last year … I am sure that’s not comforting☹️
@Mom2E thank you. My D is on several waitlists trying to figure out how/when they will notify.

My impression is that the dance world is different because dance is so physically demanding. Lots of dancers defer college, and dance while they’re still young. My favorite story is that of a young man who did IB classes throughout high school, graduated, and joined a prestigious ballet company, danced for several years until his knees started giving out, then applied to college for pre-med, then on to med school. By that point his FAFSA profile was based on his own earnings (which, on dancer wages, meant lots of aid!). He had taken community college classes in things like math while dancing in order to keep those skills “fresh”. He had figured out this entire trajectory while in high school. When I heard it I had a huge AHA moment as to why dancers might follow a different path.

@2lights I’m not sure who you’ve been talking to but most of what you are stating simply isn’t true. There are many actors who have been on Broadway and National Tours as well as local theater gigs. We get Broadway actors here at our local regional theatre every year doing summer stock, etc. But I think what concerns me the most about the general spirit of your post is the assumption that the ultimate measure of success is Broadway. Many, many talented performers don’t care about Broadway; they are happy being successful in their own local market. Lists like these are really misleading and counterproductive.

Faith Prince was in Billy Elliot. Gavin Lee toured in Poppins. We could do this all day LOL.
@actingdreams My oldest D did just that. Spent her childhood as a figure skater and a dancer, and performed in all her HS shows… now has her Masters Degree in Athletic Training and specializes in performers. She now works at a major amusement park treating their performers, as well as teaching at an area university! While she was getting her masters, she was the lead AT for the theater department at her university! So even though she didn’t pursue performance, she has remained performance adjacent, and is quite happy!
@kategrizz what a perfect and stable journey! I love her story. She has been able to dabble in both performance and now treating the performers. It’s like they can tell her exactly how they feel and she will know (literally

Have you been on a Cruise lately??? The talent is amazing and equal to Performers on Broadway. I wish my daughter would book a Cruise job to I can go visit her. Lol I am taking my daughter who is a Freshman MT BFA major on two cruises this summer. I want her to see how good the talent is.
@Mel2421, we were on Royal Carribean this Christmas on the Allure of the Seas and saw some amazing performances. Full musical was Mamma Mia, but the performers also did a second show, some sang in two different club venues, one a jazz club and the other had different types of music each night. There was an incredible diving show with dancers involved. Really amazing. I’m a pretty harsh critic LOL.
