Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@MThopeful2022 Belmont

@MTfamily1 can you repost this on the straight acting Board for BFA class of 2022?! It’s hilarious! So true!!! Esp for kids in this BFA race who had to have stellar grades plus performing arts talent and do both at the same time (for girls while wearing heels!)

@Luciamom I hope you post this on the acting page too. Well said!

ELON University Question to MT parents whose kids are or have been or are going there: do you know (or have you heard) of BFA acting students at Elon actually getting MT leads in main stage productions? The faculty say it’s possible to crossover but has it actually ever happened? Conversely, I heard from another CC member who passed along info from yet another CC member (parent of Elon MT student) that MT students are REQUIRED to audition for straight acting plays. In that second scenario, do any Elon parents know if MT students get the leads in main stage Acfing plays? Or any acting plays? Again, faculty will say it’s possible. My question focuses not on possibility or probability but rather ACTUALITY?

For parents or kids who didn’t receive any bFA MT offers. Don’t despair. Just visited a friend of my daughter (from high school) who went to A Noted BFA MT SCHOOL OFTEN DISCUSSED ON THESE BOARDS last year after striking out in this BFA process for MT. She went into the BA theater program as a freshman. Took all the same Freshman MT track classes. Auditioned this spring and was accepted to their BFA MT program as a sophomore along with the rising sophomore BFA MT class. In other words she doesn’t lose a year or have to start over! There are kids who drop out or change majors on all these programs. There is a chance to go in and earn the right to be there if you really want a school.

Similar story at another school I know about.

That is what my D would have done if she didn’t get a BFA offer…and honestly, part of me wonders if she should do that at the school she really wanted to be at because they do allow re-auditions (not all schools do so ASK before deciding) But after going through this crazy process, it is just not worth the risk. And I have to say, for those deciding between schools that they have not visited yet, my D did a 180 turn around after spending one day on a campus that she didn’t even apply to until a friend convinced her to add it to the list. She didn’t think it was what she wanted…until she got there! The girl who thought she was ready for the big city felt more comfortable in a small town just like home!

I know it’s been said before, but remember, WL will start to move pretty soon, especially at the more well known and more expensive programs. My child has a few good choices (I happen to feel that any choices are good choices…), but her favorite (as of now, we are still waiting for two) is the one “big deal” but expensive program that doesn’t offer the same types of scholarships as the others, so we can’t afford it. It’s rough to have that situation, but life isn’t always fair. Point being, I can’t imagine we are the only ones in this situation or that I’m the only one who won’t allow my child to start life $200K in debt, so spots are definitely going to open up for a lot of your kids in the next week or two.

Thinking positive and hopeful thoughts for everyone as we move into this final weekend, particularly for those student who deserve good news. Happy Passover and Happy Easter to all those who celebrate.

Does anyone know if we hear from BOCO today? or is that tomorrow?and is today MSM? thank you

A friend of my daughter’s checked and they said it will, in fact, be on April 1…

BOCO, I mean.

BOCO will be on April 1?

A decision on April 1st…what are these colleges thinking. I know of a university that used to release financial aid on April 1. They had to stop, because they kept getting so many phone calls of people asking if it was a joke  Positive vibes for those waiting on BoCo.

We are still waiting on two others besides BOCO too, from Chicago Unifieds! So figure IF it’s a positive outcome from any of those, then we won’t have their FA info until afterwards either, then all the comparison math…

Hello everyone! I really enjoyed reading this as it made me feel better about my predicament and nerves during the whole process. I have gotten a series of acceptance and rejections from universities. Rejected from BU, NW, Northeastern, Syracuse Fordham and Drexel and I got accepted to the The New School Lang, Siena college and Emerson college for journalism. Things are crazy for me because I am thinking of Emerson but I was accepted for the Spring, and that has been very off putting for me because expense wise it will be very hard for me to thrive. I have a back up plan but I am feeling very bummed/defeated all the nerves I went through and all the hard work I did since middle school too not be rejected like this…it has been a hard journey already! if anyone has advice for the school I got accepted to and comfort for the schools I got rejected to please contact meee anything helps

My daughter goes to MSM
Word on campus is today or tomorrow!
Message me with any questions you have once the offers come in! I’m more than happy to chat with you about the feel of campus etc from a parental side of view. My daughter also said she is more than willing to talk with your prospective student! Crossing my fingers for all of you and wishing on Big Stars for y’all!!!

@bisouu Bought that for D for Christmas but I have not read it. Will definitely read. FYI, Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling’s books reflect paths that emulate what you described. They made their breaks by creating their own content. Many marketable skills!

@yugiohrocks777 I think you may have posted on the wrong page. This is the musical theatre class of 2022 forum. It looks like you applied for journalism

What schools are people STILL waiting to hear from? We’re waiting on BoCo, Manhattan School of Music and LIU. A nice dose of Valium would be welcome right now! Sigh…

Still waiting to hear from Molloy/CAP 21
