Class of 2024 Early Action Thread

That’s what I was saying earlier.

People from the same school with high stats have the X, people from the same school with low stats don’t have the X.

I don’t like it BUT I think the X means something.

No x
OOS
35 ACT
3.85 unweighted GPA
9 APs
Took hardest classes offered
Competitive high school
Lots of ECs (leadership and varsity sports/captain)

3

I’m confused. Does a green check mark mean x? Are they the same?

That’s why I used the conditional “should.” We cannot see the rest of the app here, including essays, EC’s, teacher recommendations, etc.

The in-state acceptance rate is around 41%. OOS acceptance rate is 19%. Overall.

Freshmen Next Steps

You can do this online using application status. Once you pay your Enrollment Deposit, you’ll be guaranteed a space in your class. You will also be able to access your U-M email account and sign up for orientation and housing.

Request Your Final High School Transcript
Once you have received your transcript with proof of graduation, send it to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. (International students should refer to our International Students page for credentials required by country.)

Timeline: As soon as possible after high school graduation.

My D has the x
Applied to nursing
33 ACT
3.75 UW
Lots of ap’s
Great ECs
OOS - last name B

Here’s our theory about the X:
No X = data upload still pending / processing
X for Final Transcript = Accepted
X for Fall Transcript = Deferred

DD has 35 ACT; 4.0 /4.74 GPA ;a few deep & targeted EC’s; OOS - has an X for final transcript

I think all schools including UMich require final transcript to be submitted at some point, my son’s school sent them in June.

According to Michigan’s website, admitted students should send in their final grades with proof of graduation. "Once you have received your transcript with proof of graduation, send it to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. "

I’m in-state and have the X for final transcript… my school doesn’t go through exams until January?

That may be true but first they would have to wait for acceptances

in state
female CoE
3.83 UW
1560 SAT/35 ACT
strong ECs
nmsf
no x

I think that the Xs do mean something, or else the glitch in the system would not be there and it would not show 3 different screens (fall, final, nothing). Maybe it doesn’t mean what we think it does, but I definitely believe that its existence counts for something. Once official results are released our suspicions may or may not be confirmed.

I’m in state and I don’t have an x. Throughout high school I got two A minuses and As in the rest of my classes. I got a 1340 on the SAT, so that’s probably not working in my favor. Another girl from my school with pretty much identical stats also doesn’t have an x. We’re tied for third in our class, and there are normally two to three people from our school accepted. The girl that’s currently first in our class with a much higher SAT and a 4.0 has an x.

I have the X
OOS
Engineering
4.8 W / 3.94 UW
35 ACT / 1530 SAT
strong ECs, I feel like my why mich essay was strong

I think some of you are confusing final and fall transcripts. Fall transcripts would have first semester grades, which Michigan would consider if you are deferred. Final transcript grades are for the entire year, so they would need that for admitted students in case senioritis screwed over their second semester grades.

I have X
OOS
Applies to CoE
1540 SAT
4.0 UW/4.65w
Good depth in 3 ECs

And the x theory seems to be true again hahaha
