My son got 1520/1520 in california. His SAT score was 1480 on old SAT exam (He was actually sick on that day). Plans to take new digital SAT. does his SAT score matters ? His GPA is around 4.6 or so
Only in that yoy need an SAT confirming score. Having said that, the confirming score only needs to meet the Commended SI, so the 1480 is fine.

Does anyone know any official info about confirming SAT score needed to qualify from NMSF to NMF? What is the timeframe it has to be taken in. Thank you!
The confirming score needs to have a selection index equal to the commended score (208) and can be from any test taken between fall sophomore year and December of senior year. Compass Education is a great resource for all PSAT questions. They will be the first ones to leak NMSF cutoffs in the fall.

Thank you for your response. I know that it used to be a timeframe for confirming score before, however I donāt see this info in 2025 NMF brochure, looking for official confirmation.

When we send in confirming test scores do we choose to send All scores or only the top score? Can we send in both ACT and SAT scores?

How did your high schooler found out the cutoff? I only fount the info in Compass website, but Compass is not the official site
99% of the time the CommonApp essay fits just fine.
That is the de facto site. The cutoffs are not published officially as far as I can tell. The whole announcement process is very unnecessarily convoluted. You can trust the Compass numbers.

It hasnāt been released yet AFAICT, but it has been the following for the past several years:
To help the reviewers get to know you, describe an experience you have had, a person who has influenced you, or an obstacle you have overcome. Explain why this is meaningful to you. Use your own words and limit your response to the space provided.
The length limit has been somewhat different from the Common App essay the past few years (measured in characters, not words), but like @TonyGrace said, most studentsā Common App essays would work fine with minimal tweaking, if any.

The information is leaked. Apparently some high school principals share the information with students early. Itās OK as long as long as the family doesnāt share the information publicly and undercut the September 11th media āblitzā.

This! High school seniors are writing so many essays for applications. Donāt put extra effort into this essay if it isnāt necessary. The vast majority of students submit their Common App essay to NMSC and do just fine.

My S25 got a note in homeroom yesterday that he made the cut for Commended and to show up Thursday for a picture. Last year there were 20 kids from the Senior class (out of about 500) that made commended or SF cut off. Will be interesting to see how many this year.

If anyone sees a list for PA, let me know. Been waiting on announcements, and my school hasnāt told my Son anything. However his 1520/1520 last Fall means heās a semi-finalist. Just waiting for confirmation and want to ensure nothing strange happened.

The announcement process is convoluted. The letters should be sent to the student directly so that they can move forward with the application ASAP.
