Same boat here. My D is a VP major at CIM; applied to 13 MM programs and has advanced passed prescreens for 6 already but was crushed today when she got a No from Yale (her top choice). How are things going for yours?
D MM Voice received her prescreen results from USC Thornton on Friday.
Thatās where my D is. VP major, 4th year, now auditioning for MM programs which is why Iām here again. I canāt say enough good things about CIM. Fingers crossed for your S!
Hi still waiting for any pre screen news - presume the admission teams stop for the holidays soon?
My son passed his prescreen for U of Michigan today (BM Viola performance) and has the green light to schedule the audition- this is so exciting!
Current undergrad applying to MM / DMA in Comp around 10 schools. I was invited to MSM audition last Friday. No denials yetā¦
Still waiting to hear from Columbia, Yale, Curtis, Juilliard, Thorton (some have heard in other majors potentially?), UCBoulder, and other various ivys. It sounds like most of these at this point will be around Jan 10-20 (referencing past yearās threads). Iām currently at Mannes and I am under the impression that I wonāt have to pass prescreening again; my audition will be my undergraduate jury (source private teacher/jury members).
Brilliant!
Such great news!! Did he receive an email or check the portal?
I think it depends. Iāve read where some have been notified right up until Christmas Eve. I feel like if nothing has gone out before Friday, it might be early January before the next big release. Just going off of what Iāve learned here- others whoāve been through this process before may have better insight. For my D, her programs were pretty clear about when to expect results.
How much does ED help when applying to BM programs at non conservatories? We have a favorite, but I do not see the need to rush unless there is a strategic benefit. We have a few auditions we have to do in either case because if notification.
Music programs do not usually allow for ED/EA; and if it is a BM program the deadline was likely December 1. BA (with music major) programs will allow for ED, and ED does usually have a higher acceptance rate than RD so I would think itās worth doing if the university is their top pick.
Thank you, so some schools she applied EA to, and got into, or will have heard from before audition.
One school apparently will just use pre screening materials and if you ED, no audition required.
Very unusual process.
He said he received email.
Nice to avoid the stress of auditions for sure ![]()
You are mostly right, though there are exceptions, such as Northwestern and Ithaca. They both offer ED for their BM programs.
We heard from Juilliard, passed the prescreen! No audition date set yet.
Anyone hear from Juilliard for jazz prescreens?
Sheās heard from CCM, Rice, and SFCM. Itās nice to have a handful of auditions already! Takes some of the stress off as we wait for the rest to roll in.
Did you son apply to a school in Paris, France? Or have I completely missed a US music school??
Aw, thatās a bummer about Yale. Iām sorry! Hopefully the other six (!!) yeses helped. We are hanging in there. My daughter has heard from only three of the seven she applied to, but two of them are places where she had great visits and sample lessons so she is happy. So important to find the right fit for a teacher!
Yes, the National Conservatory in Paris, France
Best wishes for your daughter! My son is finishing up his UG at Rice and itās an AMAZING school/program.
