Hello everyone, I was waitlisted at Curtis for postgrad, I’m wondering how likely is it to make it off the waitlist or anyone’s ever heard of someone getting off the list before
Thank you and good luck!!Keep us posted. We are waiting for most colleges for UG…
The short answer is yes, Curtis does admit off of the waitlist. I’m sending you a PM.
Thanks! CIM said results by “mid-March” so when I saw the previous poster had gotten news, I really thought we would have heard, too! The waiting is the hardest part…
D24 just got a surprise - U of Rochester/Eastman with a scholarship!
I’ve been quietly cheering everyone along - I’m so inspired by your kids’ successes - congratulations!
My DS has heard back from all schools but one.
Jazz Trumpet acceptance and audition dates:
12/13 Berklee (audition 12/2)
2/21 IU Jacobs School of Music (audition 1/12)
2/15 University of Oregon (audition 2/3)
3/8 CSUN (audition 2/10)
3/8 SJSU (audition 2/24)
3/15 SUNY Purchase (audition 2/15)
3/15 UCLA Global Jazz (audition 2/2)
Oberlin (audition 2/17) - waiting
Big congratulations to your daughter!! I hope this signals an answer for us regarding Eastman soon- it’s the last one we’re waiting on.
Congratulations! What instrument?
Yes, is my DS first choice too. We have been little shocked how slow their process has been. Especially with all the auditions being down in January
I think Eastman direct notification with any merit will come separately. The merit tonight was UoR
As we are waiting on financials to come out, we are feeling the pressure of schools wanting to know “where we’re at” in the decision-making process. Of course, it’s hard to say without knowing the full financial picture!! At our State U, D had a conversation with the studio that was very difficult. She affirmed they were not top of her list so they could pass $$ that was earmarked for her to students who were ready to commit. They’ve been the only school so far that really asked for a direct answer at this time and, since she absolutely does not want to attend, she was honest with her answer as opposed to talking them into more runway. Even though the school isn’t a contender, it still feels scary letting them go. This last phase of waiting and trying to piece together the financial reality of each school is a killer.
We are anxiously awaiting most of the financial responses, too. D heard from one of her top schools last night who indicated they needed a response on the scholarship by April 8 instead of the normal deadline of May 1. She may not be able to make a decision by then if we don’t have all of the other pieces soon.
So hard! Feels like taking a leap of faith!
I asked about the sight reading requirements for UG piano performance at the Curtis piano performance auditions (that start Monday😳) but haven’t had any responses:(
I have tried to reach out to alum but it seems like a lot changes over 10 or so years! Good luck to you and congrats on the audition and a “waitlist” instead of a “no!” Kudos!
Congratulations!!
I really appreciate this forum after discovering it recently. I think the points made by 77mom have really helped give me a clearer perspective on this issue. I also understand your point, Jkb2, that ranking faculty without doing trial lessons is very difficult. Especially given how central that professor will be for the next 4 years.
My son (violinist) was able to meet some of his faculty of preference at summer intensives. He was also able to get trial lessons at most of the schools that interested him, except for two. At one of these, he met with the faculty member (but no trial lesson) for a short meeting during his audition day. He did not get to have trial lesson at the other school because he had sent the email to the wrong address (he had one professor that interested him greatly based on what he heard from that prof’s students at summer intensives and masterclassses he watched on Youtube)
Should he get accepted to the latter place, he plans to request a post-admission trial lesson with the professor. If he doesn’t feel a connection, he will put that school lower on his list.
I thought I would share some information regarding acceptance and scholarships in case it might be helpful. My son applied to 5 schools for Euphonium performance and has only received scholarship information from 2 which just came this week.
-LSU scholarship arrived within 2 days of acceptance email from professor.
-UGA music acceptance arrived 3/15 including scholarship info, separate email 3/15 containing OOS tuition waiver. (He received email from studio professor regarding acceptance in early Feb, music admissions send official)
Still waiting on scholarship info from University of Michigan which is his #1.
Has anyone heard anything from Carnegie-Mellon undergrad?
While they released some results on Friday evening, the Admissions office posted on their Instagram that “Admission decisions for Fall 2024 domestic and international undergraduate applicants will continue delivery Monday and over the next days and weeks. Applicants will receive a decision email regardless of their status.”
No CFA results came out on Friday, however I do know that all accepted Acting/MT students have received calls prior to that day. If they seem to already have results, it makes me wonder why they’re waiting to send them…
Hello,
Do you know if anyone who auditioned for Jacobs in March has heard other than the one student who was not accepted this week? Also, I know your child was accepted in February. Was this sent via email or snail mail?
Thanks
