Heard from Eastman (soprano voice undergrad). Waitlisted but with a very encouraging letter that makes it sound like the waitlist pool is tiny and was pretty encouraging about remaining interested, but that could just be the way they always write waitlist letters. Still we were thrilled with waitlist, it’s Eastman!

Just wanted to say, my daughter (voice MM) was waitlisted by Eastman last year. She received a similar email indicating their waitlist is small and carefully managed. She did end up being admitted a couple weeks later. Good luck to you!

Mannes at New School notified D20 (MM Voice) via portal that she’s accepted, but unfortunately, she would not be offered any merit. I know they’ve had their share of difficulties with staff and student workers taking to picket lines (observed ourselves on audition day), so I suspect they might’ve been more conservative than usual. Would love to know if anyone else who is accepted, saw any scholarship money.

My son auditioned at Stony Brook, Juilliard, Rice, and Conservatoire de Paris. He hasn’t heard from the first three but Paris let the applicants know at the end of the third day of auditions. There were close to 50 viola applicants
and they had ONE spot. My son was OK with not getting the spot, because really! But, I wanted to put this out there for future applicants. The one spot went to a French violist. My son’s friend (a violinist) also auditioned; there were two spots for violin that both went to French nationals. A week or so later, I had an interesting conversation with a Vocal Prof who said that his friend (an opera singer) had just moved back to North America after 12 years of living in Paris because of the ‘trend’ over the past few years of giving all roles to French nationals. Take from this what you will; my son said he still would have tried, even knowing there was only one spot (they did not tell them in advance). I was sad about the expense for sure!

My son just messaged me to say that his friend at Rice said the music professors have March 30th as the official day for results to be released. Just sharing.

Rice notified the applicants that decision would be out on 3/26. Last year Shepherd decision came the same day as Rice RD decision. Merit offer probably came the next day.
