@3scoutsmom Enrollment for subsequent semesters will take place about halfway through the previous semester. So sometime in mid-late October is typical. NMF and other select groups (athletes etc.) enroll in this first wave and it is broken down by standing via credits. If you have senior standing, you register on first day, junior is the next…
This is then broken down further based on number of credits. So if you’re almost a senior by hours, you’ll be in the first wave of juniors to register and have about an hour before the second group can enroll. A lot of students end up in the most advanced enrollment group quickly. I entered with 57 credits, so as a junior I’ve been enrolling as a senior for quite some time. Honestly though, most spots aren’t competitive. Most classes I enrolled in, even in the spring of my freshman year only had a handful of students in them.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
Summer enrollment happens at the same time as when you enroll for spring courses! So if you want to take a summer course, enroll in it ASAP. The courses can be somewhat competitive for the summer, so enrolling in them early is recommended. In fact, I oftentimes register for summer classes just to save a spot in case I end up wanting to take it over the summer. There’s no harm in dropping a class before you start taking it.
