I agree with everyone who thinks It’s a Wonderful Life is depressing. George is happy right up until he’s about to get on the train and leave. After that, he’s miserable for years. I’m sure Mary feels like he thinks he settled, and senses the underlying resentment (not to mention the jealously towards Sam Hee-Haw). And the children probably sense the depression too.

Am I the only one who thinks that Mary knew exactly what she was doing to George’s dreams and was perfectly fine with manipulating the situation to get what she wanted?
