<p>I’m glad I’m not the only one who picks up the house before the cleaning crew comes. My DH shakes his head as I race around before they get there, straightening up the house.</p>
<p>My cleaing lady works as an independent contractor - does her own SS and witholding, files her taxes quarterly.
She’s been with me for over 20 years. She speaks English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. (She used to eavesdrop on my Portuguese housepainters for me! Ha!)
She’s here about 5 hours every week and I pay her $120. I pay her when I don’t want her here - like this week - and I pay her holidays too. We really don’t need the cleaning with just the two of us at home but I could never let her go. She told me she was going to retire and I thought I’d be off the hook but she says that she’ll keep a couple of her favorites - including us! Oh well…
She does sheets, laundry, took care of the pets when they were alive, cleans the fridge when we go away, etc., etc., etc…
(PS Grandson got into Princeton but couldn’t go because of $$$. I wish I had enough to pay for him. Kid’s brilliant!)</p>
