Cleaning white Silestone sink and fiberglass shower stall floor

I have a white Silestone sink that was spotless for 15 years. Just this year, there is a dinge on the bottom. Any suggestions for getting it white again.

Soft scrub with bleach has worked well for us.

It used to work…but suddenly does not.

I bought this recently for my Corian sink that was dingy. Easy apply and it wasn’t miraculous but did a good job. Not sure if it is approved for your type of sink.

HOPE’S Perfect Sink Cleaner and Polish, Restorative, Removes Stains, Cast Iron, Corian, Composite, Acrylic, 8.5 Fl Oz https://a.co/d/0iRgSc5i

I’ve had good luck with oxyclean powder for lots of stains but would spot check or research a little to make sure it’s ok for your surface

A little peroxide and baking soda? worked on my porcelain tub after bleach didn’t work. Probably should approach gingerly at first.

We use Barkeepers Friend (liquid, not powder) as the final cleaner on our white sink. I squirt it on, spread it, and let it sit a few minutes before sponging off. think our sink is just porcelain, no idea of brand; it’s decades old I believe.

I guess I should put what I’ve tried.

I used soft scrub with bleach for a long time, with about an every two month soaking in a water and bleach solution. Sink was WHITE.

I’ve already tried barkeepers friend, soft scrub with bleach, and the bleach solution with water…didn’t help. I tried using baking soda and that didn’t help.

It’s a silestone sink. Two sided, and the one we use the most is the discolored one. The other side is still fine, and the sink sides are still fine.

We wash the sink everyday with Dawn dishwashing liquid.

Never had food stains or anything else like this until a couple of months ago.

This article indicates that are multiple potential causes for yellow staining and multiple potential cleaning processes:

Filling the sink with warm water to the brim and mixing in a generous scoop of oxyclean and letting it stand for a while to allow the percarbonate do its job worked for me.

I have spray oxyclean. Any chance I can use that?

And I have plenty of hydrogen peroxide (the leftovers from dental work). And toothpaste. Lots of options, it seems.

Update. I’ve been using spray oxy clean on my white sink. It looks cleaner to me already. I’ve been doing this for one hour each morning this week.

This will be my new cleaning product for this sink…if it works!

Wonder if oxyclean will work on my fiberglass shower stall too? Guess I’ll try it and see!

Kitchen silestone sink is getting close to white again. The oxyclean did not work on the fiberglass.

It’s the floor of the shower stall that needs a cleaning there…do I need to start another thread…or any ideas? I’ll change the subject title!

Probably a lot of the above as long as it doesn’t scratch or take finish off. Have you tried Bar Keepers Soft Cleaner??? Is it dull, stained - what are you trying to diminish??

For the fiberglass floor of my shower…I’ve tried soft scrub with bleach and barkeepers friend. Neither helped much but my elbow grease seemed to clear some of it…but….

I used Goo Gone Grout and Tile cleaner on our kitchen floor tiles and it did a stellar job. It says it’s safe for fiberglass.

Check the random questions thread to see if maybe a similar question has been asked and answered.

For the shower try Bon Ami. It’s similar to Barkeeper’s Friend but I like it better. Still gotta use the elbow grease, too, though.

The polymer in the fiberglass can oxidize irreversibly with time, making the material look yellowish, and no matter what is tried, it can’t be brought back to its original state. Just saying that this is a possibility.

@thumper1 - could you rename this thread Household Cleaning Advice? Then it could become a more general discussion instead of one or two specific surfaces and locations. I know people periodically do want such help.
