@pama3115 My son was accepted at PSU — direct admit to any campus EXCEPT UP. So he chose the waitlist for UP, as that’s the only campus he’s interested in. So that makes 2 waitlists - PSU and Clemson…ugh
Re the hack: out of curiosity, I went to the student onboarding app (one of the hacks) and entered my sons CUID. I got the “Welcome to Clemson” message asking for the activation code from the acceptance letter. As my son is waitlisted, we have no such letter/code, so I wouldn’t rely on that hack as having any meaning. Had we done this earlier, I would’ve gotten excited, only to be disappointed when we got the waitlist letter.
Daughter was admitted to the Bridge Program but her major is not available for her to transfer to as a 2nd year student. She’s absolutely fine with it as U of SC was her first choice after visiting both campuses and she was admitted directly to U of SC for the same program. I just hope declining the Bridge offer now allows them to offer it to another student as it is a great opportunity and we appreciate that she at least got that offer. Good luck to everyone!
@NAL112576@pama3115@xn3mom Thanks for your thoughts and perspectives. I’ve been mixed in my thoughts about the program, and you’ve given me a few additional things to discuss with my daughter. I agree that it could be beneficial on getting a headstart on classes and meeting people in a smaller environment, it’s a matter now as to whether it’s worth the summer sacrifices and additional $6k. My daughter doesn’t graduate until June 10th so that only gives her 2 weeks before starting college. Looks like Clemson does sorority rush in August before fall classes start so if she decides to rush, she’d essentially go straight from high school to college without any real breaks. So, lots to consider and thanks for your perspectives.
Did the hack change for those on the waiting list and/or those with summer acceptance? I stopped checking the hack a while ago because I had given up hope. After reading a few updates, I checked it, and it said the magic words…enter activation code! I don’t want to get my hopes up, but wondering what this means. It’s been a long week. Also, very curious who gets offered the wait list vs. summer program? Higher ranked applicants get summer accept? Wondering what Clemson (physically) does with the summer students when the fall arrives…
@ptptmom Which hack did you use? I tried studentonboarding, and saw the Welcome to Clemson, please enter activation code. But on futuretigersday hack, the message said “we don’t show you as being eligible…” If it’s the latter, then I think you’re in good shape. Wishing you the best of luck!!
My son was waitlisted. His 2 choices are competitive programs; CS & audio technology. I wouldn’t expect Audio Tech to be a major offered in summer as they only take 7 or 8 freshman into that specific program. My son’s stats were posted on the “Clemson admission decisions only” board.
@ptptmom Yes, the hacks changed for my daughter and showed she was accepted as a Biology major. It didn’t indicate online that she was accepted for the summer bound program, so we didn’t find that out until we received her acceptance packet in the mail. In terms of what happens to the summer program students, they essentially move out when the summer session ends, and then move into fall dorm housing for the fall semester. At least that’s my understanding based on what’s on their site.
After the summer program you continue with Clemson as a Freshman in the fall.
Penn State does the same thing for qualified Freshmen at University Park and is one of the tricks to keep away from the dreaded 2+2 (the other trick is to switch from a STEM major to DUS) and ask for re-evaluation.
Housing hack worked for son this AM as well, but little white envelope is in the mail and no Tigerbound yet. I’m guessing he will be offered Jan 2020 admission as I’ve seen it done in the past - or the hack is not accurate. He’s unaware of it as I don’t want him up or down on something that may not be accurate. Won’t have access to envelop until late tonight. Strange that people admitted in the fall also received a white envelope today…
@loulou2 Thanks. It is my understanding that the Onboarding hack is step one in inputting accepted students nto multiple Clemson systems to initiate certain activities such as sending acceptance letters and preparing for students accepting the offer of admission, and other onboarding activities. The Future Tiger Days hack should work shortly (maybe a day or two). I don’t know this first hand but it has been posted in the past.
@catmomof3 Thank you for responding. Can you confirm if it was from the Admissions Office or from another department? Ours is from the Admissions Office. Thanks so much!
Well, it is official the hack does not always work!!! A friend whose D’s hack worked and asked for the code from acceptance letter just received their denied letter!
Our hack changed today as well for the on-boarding but not for Future Tiger, consistent with what people have been talking about here. No packet or letter today, now I’m really anxious to know if it’s an acceptance to summer, bridge, or an error! With so many that changed today, there must be some common thread with all of us!
