Clemson Class of 2030 Official RD Thread

Right there with ya. Daughter was waitlisted and she’s pretty bummed. Thankfully she has other schools who told her yes and she can lean into those without distraction now. Sorry your daughter didn’t get the answer she wanted, it’s hard to see your kiddo disappointed.

I’ve heard a few instances that have been able to get it changed but I’ll share that my daughter was in the same boat last year. She got Summer Start and was bummed because it was her last Summer before college. She ended up attending Summer Start at Clemson, and let me tell you, she wouldn’t change it for the world. What an advantage to ease into college.

She met her best friends (girls and guys), enjoyed the campus, town and lake and had a leg up on incoming Freshman in the Fall. She was still able to spend quality time with friends until she left in late June. Then came back for 4th of July and returned to finish the remaining month of Summer Start. We had heard great things from others and her experience was A+.

Thanks for sharing!

Anyone else staying on waitlist for Fall? We know it’s a long shot. We are oos and she does not want to change her summer plans.

In the last CDS, Clemson offered 11102 WL spots and 3598 joined. So many will join.

So they WL about 1:6 applicants.

Definitely seems like it. On the poll here above half are waitlisted oos. We have our deposit down at another school.

Curious if there will be movement after Auburn and UGA decisions are out.

Trying to decide the same thing right now. Based on the statistics for the past few years, the chances seem bleak. I think we’re depositing at another school and moving on. I feel like the psychology of committing to one school and waiting and wondering about the 10% chance (or less) you may be given a spot off the list sounds terrible. Then if you do get a spot, there’s a scramble to figure out a dorm, orientation, etc. I feel like you’d always be one step behind everyone else in terms of preparedness. I feel like if it’s someone dream school it could be worth it (or an Ivy) to accept, but otherwise it’s just a distraction from fully engaging with the school that loved you back.

This is the right thing to do - not necessarily get off the wait list but emotionally move on.

They’ve rejected you - that’s the truth. They’ve said to your student - not accepted.

But, for our benefit (not yours), in case we fall short of our goals, we might call you back.

So you should do the same, even if you stay on the wait list.

We’ve chosen another school, but maybe we’ll come back. You know my email address and phone number.

They don’t have a 25/26 CDS in 2024/25 so two years ago, 112 go off.

But three years ago 1162 got off.

Clemson has a 12% OOS yield - so few that get in percentage wise are going anyway - I’m guessing but don’t know due to cost.

Sure someone might choose UGA pure and simple over Clemson based on rank - but they are highly likely to based on cost if they get in. Same with U of SC and other schools that are less expensive.

Personally, I think if a student really wants to be there - why not stay on the WL. It may come in May or June, etc - and I’m sure many WL offers are turned down because the student fell in love with another place, got a roomie, etc. Just assume if you do end up at Clemson, you’ll have wasted some $$ because of course, you have to deposit elsewhere. Don’t assume WL schools will be in touch with you before May 1st. Some will but some won’t.

If your student can’t handled the ups and downs - I get jumping ship now. But if they truly want to see - stay on - but yes, fall in love with another…or as they say, love who loves you back.

They’ll only love you back (Clemson) if they fall short of goals.

Best of luck.

We are moving forward but staying on list. We know a student from our school that was accepted in April last year but she was all in at another college by then. Open to see what happens and where she’s at if it happens.

Love this! Thanks for putting the situation into a good perspective.

Anyone else get admitted from the wait list? It was a summer admission even though he said no to summer. I am wondering if he could get it moved to fall admission?

On another page all were given summer start. What major? And are you oos? Still waiting but not waiting lol

Today our twins were offered admission to Business, which we are shocked about. Just as a FYI for others … our two had selected wait list after being deferred but then didn’t submit anything else. A few weeks ago they received an email asking if they still wanted to be on the wait list and I don’t think they even replied because they had already committed to Auburn. Clemson was originally their first choice but they got in to Auburn back in October and are now so excited about it! All this to say that the wait list thing really works for anyone still waiting. Best wishes to all!
